Frequently Asked Questions
(Epilog)

Q: Why, on the Rotary Glass Attachment, is my text/logo coming out stretched or condensed?

A:  Setting up cylindrical objects with balloon or tapered shapes.

 1.  Measure the circumference of the object at the point of rotation.
 2.  Measure the circumference at the point of engraving.
 3.  Divide the point of rotation by the point of engraving.
 4.  Stretch (or compress) the text by the result of the equation above.

   Examples:

  Tapered Shape
4” at lip of the glass (driver motor point)
   3” at engraving point
4” / 3” = 1.33”:  Stretch the text to 133% of its original size to maintain the aspect
    Ratio.

  Balloon Shape
3” at lip (driver motor point)
   4” at engraving point
3" / 4" = .75: Compress the text to 75% of its original size to maintain the aspect ratio.

Q: When I engrave glass, the engraving feels rough. Any tips?

A: Lay wet newspaper over glass before lasering.  This will dissipate the heat and the engraving will feel smoother.

Q: How do I engrave a glass where the handle is too close to the top, like a coffee mug?

A:     Remove the extra wheels from the attachment by taking out the black thumbscrews inside the wheels.
