How did Roy Brewer (founder, Engraving Concepts) become involved in the "trophy business"? While teaching at a Christian school & serving as a youth director at a Baptist church in Tulsa, OK, he found the need to supplement his income. A friend of his had a woodworking business (with awards as a sideline), so at night & on weekends, Roy put awards together. F&H Noble hired him, shortly thereafter, to sell trophy components on the West Coast. Roy & his family packed up the U-Haul & headed west to California. After a year in California, Dodge contacted Roy & offered him a sales position in Texas. Once again, Roy packed up the U-Haul and toted his son, daughter & pregnant wife to the thriving metropolis of Grand Prairie, Texas. In the last 30 years, Roy has sold trophy components for Freeman Products, Weiss & Biheller, Hallmark Brass, the list goes on & on ... to "trophy shops" in Texas & 8 other states (including Hawaii). Engraving Concepts (formerly Brewer Sales) was officially formed when Freeman Products turned their sales employees into independent representatives. Roy Brewer was one of these new reps proffered a lower commission and allowed to carry additional non-competitive lines. About all that was non-competitive was equipment. The AutoMark (the "Green Machine" popularized by Bill Babcock) was the first equipment we sold. The AutoMark was followed by the original sublimation system, mechanical engravers, laser engravers, vinyl lettering systems and various other smaller machines typically used by engravers, trophy shops, sign shops and industrial companies who do their own marking. Engraving Concepts is the authorized distributor for Epilog Laser (since 1991) & Xenetech USA (since 1994) in Texas & beyond. Engraving Concepts/Roy Brewer Milestones
